Step 8: Evaluate the mentoring program on a regular basis to ensure its effectiveness and to maximize consumer satisfaction

Penn State's Experience: Evaluation of the AAC Mentor Program.

The mentoring program between the mentors and their protégés was also evaluated. Several techniques were used.

At regular intervals throughout the project, protégés and mentors were contacted to see how things were going and to identify any problems or concerns. They were asked about their satisfaction with the experience, and if they were making progress on the protégé�s goals. If there were any problems, action plans were developed to address these problems.
At the end of the project, protégés completed consumer satisfaction surveys to evaluate their satisfaction with the mentor program and to determine ways to improve the project.
At the end of the project, goal attainment data were also collected for each of the protégés� goals.
At the end of the project, mentors also completed consumer satisfaction surveys to provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.

Results clearly indicated that

Both protégés and mentors were highly satisfied with the mentoring program.
Furthermore the program was an effective mechanism to support protégés in progressing toward their goals.
