Mentor Leadership Training Course

You chose:

answer b "Anne, you sound sort of lonely. I remember I found it really difficult to make new friends when I started high school. I was really depressed. I couldn’t do any work and I couldn’t eat. Everyone was worried about me. But in the end it all worked out. I’ve got tons of friends now."

This is NOT the correct answer.

Here the mentor does not remember to use the DO IT! strategy to help Anne find a way to solve this problem.

In this example, the mentor:

  • does not focus on Anne’s problem making friends.
  • does not ask questions to help Anne describe the specific problem and identify why it is a problem.
  • does not help Anne brainstorm and outline possible solutions and does not help her identify consequences of these potential solutions.

Instead the mentor talks about the problems she had in high school.
