Mentor Leadership Training Course

You chose:

answer d "Sheila, sorry to hear that you had a lousy weekend. Mine was great! I went out with some friends on Friday night and then on Saturday I went on a picnic. The weather was great and it was so beautiful at the lake!"

This is NOT the correct answer.

Here the mentor does not remember to use the LAF, don’t CRY strategy.

In this example, the mentor does not use positive communication skills. The mentor:

  • does not focus on what Sheila is saying
  • does not ask questions to understand if this is an important problem for Sheila

Instead the mentor takes over the conversation and "yakkity yaks" about her own weekend activities.
